 Medak District and Mandals: Medak District is one of the districts of Telangana State. It is located in the northwestern part of the state.Medak district was a part of Nizam princely State, Medak was originally called as Siddapur, later it was known as Gulshanabad. Qutub Shahis named it as Gulshanabad which means City of Gardens due to its luscious Greenery later it was called as Medak again.

Medak District is bound with Karimnagar District to the East, Nalgonda District to the East, Nizamabad District to the North, Rangareddy District to the South, Warangal District to the East, Bidar District to the west. It is sharing Border with Karnataka State to the South. Narsapur Forest, located 35 km from Hyderabad, is spread between Gummadidala and Narsapur. This forest covers 30 km². This has a variety of trees, many lakes and supports wildlife. Lately, this has become a hotspot for Telugu film shootings.

The district is mainly agricultural, with about 78% of the population engaged in agriculture or something that is related to it. The major crops in the region are rice, jowar, maize and sugar cane. High-quality teak is also available in Medak, owing to the fact that one-tenth of the district is covered in forests, extending to 97,093 hectares.


There are many tourist places in the Medak district that attracts the tourists throughout the year, which are of ancient monuments, religious places, and animal reserves. The Medak fort and Medak church are epitomes of architectural excellence. The church takes us to Gothic era because the architectural pattern of the church closely reflects Gothic styles and designs. The Anglican Medak Cathedral, which belongs to the single largest diocese in Asia, is a priceless heritage. It was built by the British Wesleyan Methodists and is now under the Church of South India – Diocese of Medak. The Medak Fort, Medak Church, wildlife sanctuary, temples like Veerabhadra Swamy Temple, Sri Kasi Vishweshwara Temple, the temple in the Edupailu region of Medak are some of the places to visit in Medak district.
