Andhra Pradesh is a state in southern India, bordered by Telangana, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha to the north, the Bay of Bengal to the east, Tamil Nadu to the south, and Karnataka to the west. The state is divided into two main regions: Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema. It comprises 26 districts with major cities such as Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Kakinada, and more.
Formed in 1953, Andhra Pradesh originally had Kurnool as its capital. In 1956, the capital was shifted to Hyderabad. However, in 2014, the state of Telangana was carved out, and Hyderabad became its joint capital. Currently, Hyderabad serves as the temporary capital for Andhra Pradesh, while a new capital, Amaravati, is being developed near Vijayawada.

Its history features prominent rulers such as the Kakatiyas and the Vijayanagara Kings. In 1956, Andhra Pradesh became the first state to be formed on a linguistic basis. The state's formation was influenced by the hunger strike of Potti Sriramulu in 1953, which led to its creation.
