In the 13th century, Gona Ganapa Reddy and Recherla Padma Nayakulu (Singama Nayakudu I) joined two hills to make a hill fort in Ghanpur. Many battles occurred between Bahamanis, Vijayanagara Kings, Bijapur Kings, Qutb Shahi Kings, and others at this Fort. The cannons still around have been kept on the side of the Fort facing the sky. We can also see the ruins of a palace and ministers' homes.
Khilla Ghanpur
Ganapuram Khilla got its name from the name of the ruler of the Kakatiya people, Sri Ganapathi Deva. Gona Ganna Reddy named the village Ganapathideva after the Kakatiya ruler Ganapathideva. Before that, it was called Naginenipally. People think that the Fort has two hidden tunnels inside. One goes to the village at the bottom of the mountain, and the other goes to the Panagal Fort. After the Buddapuram war, Kakatiya's last king Pratapa Rudra married Gona Ganna Reddy's daughter in this Fort.
The Fort is made up of beautiful rocks and greenery, and it has two ponds that the fort army used to get water to drink. There are many exciting things to do here, like rappelling, rock climbing, caving, and more.

By Train:
One can get on the train and travel 40 km to the Gadwal station. One can take public transportation from the station to get to the temple.
By Road:
From Mahabubnagar or Wanaparthy, you can get to Khilla Ghanpur. About 25 km from Mahabubnagar and Wanaparthy is where the Fort.
