This place is about 145 km northwest of Hyderabad, the state capital, and about 81 km from Nizamabad District. Mir Osman Ali Khan, the ruler of the royal Hyderabad at the time, built the Nizamsagar dam in 1923. People from 40 villages had to move so that this dam could be made. You can take a train from Secundrabad (SC) or Kacheguda (KCG) to get to Kamareddy. The train ride from Secundrabad to Kamareddy takes about 2 hours and 15 minutes.
 
By Road:
 
The Nizam Sagar Dam is about 85 km from the town of Nizamabad and 145 km from Hyderabad. It can be reached by road.
