
Nizam Sagar Dam in Kamareddy District
This place is about 145 km northwest of Hyderabad, the state capital, and about 81 km from Nizamabad District. Mir Osman Ali Khan, the ruler of the royal Hyderabad at the time, built the Nizamsagar dam in 1923. People from 40 villages had to move so that this dam could be made. The place lists the best places to visit in the world. In the 1940s, great people like Mahatma Gandhi and Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru came here. There are great places to stay and eat near the dam to make things easier for tourists. The Nizam Sagar Project is the second way the Manjira River is used to water crops. The Manjira basin was split between the three states of Telangana, Maharashtra, and Karnataka after the reorganisation of states in 1956.
