Benefits and Features of the TN Marriage Assistance Scheme

1) The Tamil Nadu State Government has started the Tamilnadu Marriage Assistance Scheme 2022. Under this scheme, poor and financially weak families in the state will get help with their daughters' weddings financially and in other ways.
2) Under this Scheme, orphan girls, widows who remarried, widows who married their own daughters, and inter-caste couples who got married will all get money and other help.
3) The state government has also started five different schemes as part of this plan.

Marriage Assistance Scheme


The Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamilnadu announced that 8 gramme gold for Thirumangalyam and financial help for weddings will be given starting May 17, 2011. This is a flagship programme run by the Social Welfare Department. From May 23, 2016, this plan will also cover 8 grammes of gold. Under the plan, brides with a 10th or 12th-grade education get Rs.25,000/- and 8 grammes of gold, while brides with a degree or diploma get Rs.50,000/- and 8 grammes of gold.

1. Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar, Memorial Marriage Assistance Scheme


The government of Tamil Nadu is running the Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Memorial Marriage Assistance Scheme to help poor girls get a better education. Girls who have finished 10th grade, +2, a diploma, or a degree get help.

SCHEME – I

Objectives of the Schemes

To help poor parents get their daughters married and to help poor girls go to school.

Assistance Provided and eligibility.

A cheque for Rs.25,000/- and an 8-gram gold coin. At the time of the wedding, the bride should have finished 10th grade. If the bride is ST, she should have finished the fifth grade. The parents' annual income should be at most Rs.72,000/-. At the time of the wedding, the bride should have turned 18, and the groom should have turned 21. Each family can only send one girl. Applications should be sent at least 40 days before the wedding or, if that's not possible, at least one day before the wedding.

10th Marksheet, Transfer Certificate, Community Certificate, Income Certificate,. Ration Card Photo Copy, Marriage invitation, and Passport size photo of the applicant and parents.

To help poor parents get their daughters married and improve the educational status of poor girls with a Degree or Diploma.

Assistance Provided and eligibility.

The cheque for Rs.50,000/- and an 8-gram gold coin. At the time of the wedding, the bride should have a degree or diploma. The parents' annual income should be at most Rs.72,000/-. The parents' annual income should be at most Rs.72,000/-. At the time of the wedding, the bride should have turned 18 and the groom should have turned 21. Each family can only send one girl. Applications should be sent at least 40 days before the wedding or, if that's not possible, at least one day before the wedding.

2. E.V.R. Maniyammaiyar, Memorial Widow Daughter’s Marriage Assistance Scheme

The Tamil Nadu Government is implementing the E.V.R. Maniyammaiyar, Memorial Widow Daughter's Marriage Assistance Scheme to help poor girls get a better education. Girls who have finished 10th grade, +2, a diploma, or a degree get help.

SCHEME – I

To help poor mothers who are widows by giving them money for their daughters' weddings and to help poor girls get better educations.

Assistance Provided and eligibility.

The cheque for Rs.25,000/- and an 8-gram gold coin. The bride should have at least a 10th-grade education or none. At the time of the wedding, the bride should have turned 18, and the groom should have turned 21. The poor widow has only one daughter who can go. Applications should be sent at least 40 days before the wedding or, if that's not possible, at least one day before the wedding.

3. Dr Dharmamal Ammaiyar Ninaivu Widow Remarriage Assistance Scheme

The Tamil Nadu Government is putting in place the Dr Dharmambal Ammaiyar Ninaivu Widow remarriage Assistance Scheme to help poor widows get back on their feet.

SCHEME – I

Objectives of the Schemes

To help widows get back on their feet, to encourage them to get married again. Help Offered and Who Can Get It Check for Rs.15,000, an NSC Bond for Rs.10,000, and an 8-gram gold coin. Between 20 and 40 years old. Should apply up to six months after getting married.

Death Certificate of the First husband of the remarried widow, Marriage Photo, Widow Certificate, 1st and 11th Marriage invitation of the remarried widow, Community Certificate, No Income limit.

SCHEME – II

Objectives of the Schemes

To help widows get back on their feet, to encourage them to get married again. Help Offered and Who Can Get It Check for Rs.30,000, an Rs.20,000 NSC bond, and an 8-gram gold coin.

Documents to be enclosed

At the time of the wedding, the bride should have a degree or diploma. No Income limit. 20 to 40 years old. Should fill out the application within 6 months of getting married.

4. Annai Teresa Ninaivu Orphan Girls Marriage Assistance Scheme

The Annai Teresa Ninaivu Orphan Girls Marriage Assistance Scheme is being run by the government of Tamil Nadu to help poor orphan girls get a better education. Girls who have finished 10th grade, +2, a diploma, or a degree get help.

SCHEME – I

Objectives of the Schemes

5. Dr Mutulakshmi Reddy Memorial Inter Caste Marriage Assistance Scheme

The Tamil Nadu Government is running the Dr Dharmambal Ammiyar Ninaivu Widow Re-Marriage Assistance Scheme to end widowhood in the community. Help for Marriages Between Different Castes.

SCHEME – I

Objectives of the Schemes

6. Sathiyavanimuthu Ammaiyar Ninaivu Free Supply Of Sewing Machine Scheme

The Social Welfare and Nutritious Meal Programme Department is running the Free Supply of Sewing Machine Scheme to help widows, wives who have been left by their husbands, women from poorer families, men and women with disabilities, and socially affected women earn more money through self-employment.

7. Chief Minister’s Girl Child Protection Scheme

This program's goals are to: encourage girls to wait until they are 18 to get married, encourage parents to use birth control after their second child, protect girls' rights and give them more social and financial power, and strengthen the role of the family in improving the status of girls.

SCHEME – I

For a family with only one girl child, Rs.50,000 is put into a fixed deposit in the name of the girl child born on or after August 1, 2011. This deposit is made with Tamil Nadu Power Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited.

SCHEME – II

For a family with only two girl children, Rs.25,000 is put into fixed deposits with Tamil Nadu Power Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited in the names of two girl children born on or after August 1, 2011. The family of the girl children gets a copy of the fixed deposit receipts. To benefit from this plan, which is the maturity amount, the girl child must take the State Government's SSLC exam and be 18 years old. TAMIL NADU THIRD GENDER WELFARE BOARD To help Third Genders be accepted in all parts of society, the government has taken steps to improve their lives. The government has set up several programmes to help third genders improve their education and finances. Third genders are given ID cards after going through a medical exam by the medical board. Also, third-gender self-help groups get loans for economic development and training on how to make money. Housing sites and houses will be given out through the slum clearance board.
