Kerala Niramaya Health Insurance Scheme – How to Apply, Eligibility and Benefits: Niramaya Health Insurance Scheme is an initiative taken by the Kerala government to help and empower people with disability to live an independent life and offers them affordable Health Insurance.

The scheme entitles Health insurance cover of up to Rs. 1.0 lakh with facilities for OPD treatment including the medicines, diagnostic tests, etc, Regular Medical checkup for non-ailing disabled, Dental Preventive Dentistry, Surgery to prevent further aggravation of disability, Non- Surgical/ Hospitalization, Corrective Surgeries for existing Disability including congenital disability, Ongoing Therapies to reduce impact of disability and disability related complications, etc. 

How to apply for Kerala Niramaya Health Insurance Scheme

To apply for the Kerala Niramaya Health Insurance Scheme visit the official portal (http://sjd.kerala.gov.in/schemes.php) of the scheme. After heading to the home page Navigate to ‘schemes’ option and click on the ‘Niramaya Health Insurance Scheme’ link and select the scheme displayed first. 

 

After that click on the documents option and on the application forms option to fill the application form in PDF format along with all the correct details. Choose between enrolment form, application renewal and the scheme insurance form.

 

Another possible way is to download the required form in its PDF version, fill up the form and submit the form to the concerned authorities. Make sure to produce the required documents while submitting the application form.

Documents required for Kerala Niramaya Health Insurance Scheme

There are a few mandatory documents while applying for Kerala Niramaya Health Insurance Scheme and the important and Mandatory Documents are, 

Income certificate : The applicant must produce income certificate at the time of registration for the scheme to be eligible. 
Medical reports : Medical reports and other relevant documents should be submitted as they will be scrutinized by authorities before the scheme benefits are offered
Residential proof:
The proof is mandatory as they confirm that the disabled candidate is a permanent resident of the state to take the benefits of the scheme. 
Bank details : Give the bank details as the bank account would be linked to the scheme to offer financial help through the insurance scheme 
Identification:   It is mandatory to produce Aadhaar card, voter ID card, ration card to confirm the identity of the disabled person.

Eligibility for Niramaya Health Insurance Scheme

To be Eligible for the Niramaya Health Insurance Scheme there are few criterias to be met and the eligibility criteria include,

  1. The permanent residents of the state of Karnataka are only eligible to apply for it.
  2. The applicant needs to fall under the income limits when planning to avail the scheme benefits
  3. The disabled person should produce suitable medical reports to confirm their percentage of disability and their eligibility to attain the scheme benefits.

  1. Gives single premium across age band
  2. Provides same coverage irrespective of the type of disability covered under the National Trust Act with Insurance cover of upto Rs.1.0 lakh , on reimbursement basis only.
  3. Applicants with disabilities under the National Trust Act with valid disability certificate will be eligible and included.
  4. No pre-insurance medical tests and Treatment can be taken from any hospital.
