Gadwal Fort in Gadwel District of Telangana State – How to Reach & Timings: Gadwal is a city in the Indian state of Telangana. It is also the district headquarters for the Jogulamba Gadwal district. It is 188 kilometers (117 miles) from Hyderabad, which is the state capital and a state assembly constituency. In the past, Gadwal was the capital of Gadwal Samsthanam, under the control of the Nizam of Hyderabad. Gadwal used to be in the area of Hyderabad-Karnataka called Raichur.

The train makes it easy to get to the town. The Gadwal Railway Station is on the line that goes from Mahabubnagar to Kurnool. Gadwal Railway Station is where almost all trains that go to Kurnool stop.

Gadwal Famous Samasthanam:

The Imperial Gazetteer of India shows that Gadwal, once a samasthanam, was once a part of Raichur. But since the Nizam ruled the area, it has been a part of the Gadwel district.

Special Attractions of Gadwal Fort

Peda Soma Bhupaludu, the most famous and powerful ruler of the 17th century, built the strong Gadwal fort, which is still standing. He also went by the name Somanadri. This is another place to go to. The big walls around you make you feel safe. The materials used to build the Fort were very strong, which is why it still stands strong today. So far, there has been no need to fix the Fort. The architecture and design make you feel like a king or queen. The Fort has three separate parts, three temples, and a body of water. The three temples are Sri Chennakesava Swamy Temple, Sri Ramalayam, and Sri Venugopala Swamy Temple.

The Fort is also home to the giant cannon in the country, which is also worth mentioning and seeing. The 32-foot-long, artistic cannon was a sign of Pedda Soma Bhupala’s victory over Nawab of Kurnool. After beating the Nawab in battle, the ruler Somandri took the cannon from him.

The government of Telangana is taking steps to make the Fort a significant tourist attraction and to protect its history. The Gadwal Fort is easy to get to because it is close to Gadwl Town. You can get to the town from Hyderabad, Mamhabubnagar, or Raichur. The town is 16 km from Erravelli Junction on NH 7, which runs from Bangalore to Hyderabad.
