Papnash means "sin destroyer." A visit to this temple and a plunge in the Papnash pond is thought to cleanse a person of all sins. This temple draws a considerable number of pilgrims for this reason alone. During Shivaratri, it becomes highly packed. There is a large Shiva Linga in the shrine. There are three other Shiva Lingas in the temple compound. Devotees can immediately give pujas to these Shiva Lingas by touching them.
