Money invested in this scheme doubles in nearly 10 years and 4 months. This is a small saving certificate scheme. The scheme was launched by the Indian government in the year 1988. The minimum amount that should be invested is Rs. 1,000 and there is no upper limit. Different types of certificates are available such as single holder type, joint ‘A’ type and joint ‘B’ type certificates.

How to Apply For Kisan Vikas Patra Scheme

Applying for Kisan Vikas Patra scheme is very simple. Application forms can be collected from the postoffices or banks. Duly fill the applications and submit them in the post offices or banks. Investment in KVP can be done through an agent, in such cases, the form A1 has to be filled by the agent. PAN, Aadhar, voter ID or Driver license or passport copies have to be submitted for address proof and ID. The documents will be verified by the concerned authorities. After this, the deposit has to be made. Payment can be in the form of cash, cheque, pay order or DD. The KVP certificate is issued immediately if the payment is made through cash. If the payment is done in any other mode, then it is issued after the amount is cleared.

Any Indian citizen can apply for Kisan Vikas Patra scheme. The applicant should be above the age of 18 years.

Interest Rate for Kisan Vikas Patra Scheme

The interest rate for Kisan Vikas Patra depends on when the certificate is purchased and for how many years, the amount is invested. Presently the interest rate is 7.7% for the quarter between 1 October 2019 and 31 December 2018. Before this, the interest rate was 7.3%.

Tenure of Kisan Vikas Patra is 124 months. The interest is accrued until the amount is withdrawn. The money can be withdrawn after 124 months. Premature withdrawal is not allowed except in cases such as the demise of the account holder. Kisan Vikas Patra is available in different denominations such as Rs. 1000, Rs. 5000, and Rs. 10,000 etc. There is no upper limit for the investment. The loan also can be secured against KVP certificates.
