South Indian Onion Pakoda Recipe: Hello friends, do you know how to make this Crispy Onion Pakoda Recipe. It is a famous healthy snack for kids and one of the tastiest food in vegetarian recipes. It tastes great when we eat along with tea, with green chutney or sauce or as it is. It is really yummy in cool and cloudy weather.


South Indian Onion Pakoda Recipe

Ingredients for making of Onion Pakoda Recipe

  1. Onion -1/4 cup sliced lengthwise
  2. Gram flour/besan – 1/3 cup + 1tsp
  3. Chilli Powder – 2 1/2 tbsp
  4. Rice flour – 2 1/2 tbsp
  5. Hot oil – 1 tbsp
  6. Coriander powder – 1/2 tbsp
  7. Salt as needed
  8. Oil for deep frying pakoda.

Step by Step Process of Crispy Onion Pakoda Recipe

  1. Cut onion thinly lengthwise and keep it aside.
  2. In a bowl, mix together onion, salt, gram flour, rice flour, chili powder, 1 tsp hot oil, and coriander powder. Add approximately 4 tsp of water and mix well.
  3. Heat oil in a Kadai. To check if the oil is hot enough to fry the pakoras, drop a little batter into the oil if the batter rises to the surface immediately, the oil is ready for frying the pakodas.
  4. Reduce the heat to medium, take a little prepared pakoda batter and drop it into the oil as shown in the picture below. Do not make balls or shape it, this pakoda should be shapeless.
  5. Fry until golden brown, stirring in between. Remove it from the oil and drain excess oil on a colander or paper towel.
  6. Serve crispy onion pakoras with a hot cup of tea, coffee, or South Indian Filter coffee.

Note: Rice flour should be half the quantity of gram flour/besan.
