Warangal Urban District, Warangal District, Telangana New District: Warangal Urban is a new district in India from Telangana state. This district has some great history which was discovered and studied by Indian archaeological authorities. There are many temples, mosques, etc, are here. It is also known as the land of Sufi saints. It is a very special and old district which was related with some great history. When the Bahamani Kingdom fall, Warangal fell to the “Qutab Shahis” of Golkonda and thereafter it has come under the reign of Nizam’s dominions. This district has been developed under some great kings till now.
Warangal occupies an area of about 1300 kilometers. As of 2011, Warangal Urban has a population of 1,135,707. In 2006 the Indian government named Warangal Urban one of the country's 250 most backward districts. It is one of the thirteen districts in Andhra Pradesh currently receiving funds from the Backward Regions Grant Fund Programme (BRGF). Warangal Fort, Thousand Pillar Fort, Padmakshi Temple, Bhadrakali Temple, etc are one of the famous tourist attraction in Warangal Urban District. The transportation system is great here. Warangal Urban also has an airport. Road and railways are great and still improving. The education system is also great here. As one of the NIT is here that is NIT Warangal.
