It was a part of Adilabad district before Mancherial District itself came into existence on 11th October 2016. Mancherial district is bounded by Asifabad (Komuram Bheem), Adilabad, Nirmal, Jagtial, Peddapalli, Bhoopalapally districts and the Maharashtra state. This district has 2 revenue divisions and 18 mandals. Mancherial District is located on the banks of Godavari River. When this district was part of Adilabad district, it was very rich in forests and greenery. But because of that, the communication with other parts of the state was very less. Mancherial District mainly became industrialized because of Singareni Collieries Company of coal mines. After the establishment of this industry, this place became more developed.

Mancherial District has an area of 4056.36 kilometers. According to 2011 census, Mancherial District was having a population of 8,07,037. The district was having a literacy rate of 75.71%. People here mainly follow Hinduism, Islam, and then Christianity. The language spoken here are Telugu, Urdu, and Hindi. Mancherial District is well connected by railways and roadways with other parts of Indian and Telangana. There is an airport also here but now it is in no use no more. The education system is also improving now. So now overall this district has developed more than whatever it was before.
